To explore the City Centre you don't have to park your car in town. It's much easier to leave your vehicle at the Waterfront and take the Shuttle Bus from there to the city.

The following sights should be included in your Cape Town tour:

The Castle of Good Hope the oldest (European) building in the country was built as a fort from 1666 to 1669. A nice museum can be visited there.
Guards of the CaslteAt the Grand Parade in front of the City Hall (Darling Street) the flower sellers have their stands.
St. George's Cathedral in the corner of Wale/Adderley Street is the main Anglican church in South Africa. It was built with sandstone from Table Mountain.
Company's Garden is another must. It was used as a fruit and vegetable garden for the early settlers. Now it's a green oasis and a botanical garden in the city centre. Right in Company's Garden you can have a nice rest in a tea garden.
Company's Garden is enclosed by historical buildings. You can also see the back of the Parliament while walking through the garden. Further up the fine collections of the South African National Gallery and the South African Museum can be enjoyed.
Long Street is a sight of its own. With its old Victorian buildings and nice shops (antiquities, second hand books, …) it’s another shopper's paradise.
On weekdays the flea market at Greenmarket Square can be visited. Meanwhile goods and souvenirs from all over Africa are offered. Just stroll along the market or enjoy the atmosphere while sipping a nice cappuccino on the veranda of the "Cycles on the Square". The Old Town House is another historic building on Greenmarket Square (1755). Nice paintings of Dutch and Flemish artists are on display.
District 6 Museum (Albertus street/Buitenkant) offers an insight into the history of this interesting suburb. In February 1966 this "mixed" residential area was almost destroyed in need of land for an upmarket suburb. Whites were supposed to settle there. But during Apartheid only green fields remained. Some former residents claimed for compensation and were allowed to move back into new homes in 2004. Just underneath Signal Hill the Malayan Quarter, the Bo-Kaap. Picturesque, colourful houses, mosques and kramats are typical features here. This was the residential area of former slaves brought from "East India" by the Dutch settlers. Most Cape-Malays are still muslims. Typical Cape Malay cuisine, a combination of Far Eastern cuisine with influences of African and European cooking is famous throughout South Africa.
