(a) Kommetjie & Noordhoek
The seaside village of Scarborough is known for its Camel Rock. Kommetjie has another lighthouse as a landmark. Here the spectacular road leads you along the rocks with some magnificent views down to the beaches. The sandy beach of Noordhoek (more than 5 km) is always a possibility to enjoy the ocean and is well known as a photo shooting spot for the fashion industry.

(b) Chapman's Peak Drive & Hout Bay
The most spectacular part of the coastal road is without doubt Chapman's Peak Drive. This drive has been built by prisoners long ago. Due to some dangerous rock falls after the huge fires some years ago Chapman's Peak Drive has been renewed (toll-road).
The gorgeous view points howeverare well worth a visit. From May to October Hout Bay is a good spot to watch Southern Right Whales.

(c) Hout Bay & Duiker Island
In Hout Bay you should visit the small waterfront at the harbour. From here several companies offers boat trips to Duiker Island and the big seal colony. This trip is a must. Not only for seal-viewing but also for the spectacular scenery of the Peninsula. If you are lucky you'll get whale-watching for free. Some Southern Right Whales choose Hout Bay as their favourite winter destination.

(d) Camps Bay & Clifton
Further North you can have a beautiful view down to Llandudno, one of the finest residential areas of Cape Town. The seaside resort of Camps Bay is another hotspot. Superb beaches and luxurious villas attract many visitors.
On the way back to Cape Town the in-beaches of Clifton cannot be seen from the road. If you would like to check them you have to park your car and walk down the narrow paths towards the Ocean.
On your way back to the City Centre you will also pass Sea Point.

Whale Watching along the Peninsula
Southern Right Whales can be seen in the Ocean around Cape Town from June to November. This is where there calves are born. While travelling around the peninsula you'll have good chances to view whales right from the coastal roads. The best whale-viewing, however, can be enjoyed in Hermanus.
