Langebaan
...for thousands of
years Khoi people were settling in this area. In 1601 the Portugese
where discovering the West Coast followed by the Dutch, French and
British. Jan van Riebeck considered to start a colony here due to the
fact that nearby Saldanha offered a perfect natural harbour. But as
there was no drinking water available it was decided to settle along
the Table Bay further South.
Today Langebaan
is a beautiful seaside resrot and the ideal hub for the exploration of
the West Coast. Around the
corner you will find the National Park and the lagoon awaits
you to relax and enjoy the Atlantic ocean.
Guest Houses and self-catering units are offering possibilities to
overnight.
Saldanha
Saldanha Bay
is known for its huge natural harbour. The Dutch
wanted to start a colony there. Due to the lack of water however they
decided to begin their venture further south.
 Paternoster
This is Snoek country
and between November and April "West Coast Lobster" will be "fished".
Check up the atmosphere in the famous pub of the century old local
hotel.
St. Helena Bay
This is the only bay
along the West Coast where you can experience magic sunrises. The
village from St. Helena Bay is known for its idyllic white houses.
Even today many inhabitants make their living from fishing. Enjoy the
wonderful beaches and eventually dolphins, seals and whales... |
