West Coast National Park
220 km North of Cape Town lies this huge retreat (30.000 ha) for birds of all kinds. Also migratory birds from the Northern hemisphere occur. The Langebaan lagoon with its deep blue water is situated in the centre of the national park.
The West Coast National Park was founded on August 30, 1985. The park contains an area of 30.000 ha of lagoons and marshland and is home of numerous bird species. Approximately 750.000 birds are breeding on the offshore islands. During summer time the national park a retreat for migratory birds from the Northern hemisphere. In early spring the area is known for its wild flowers. Around Postberg antelopes can be spotted. And then there is still the main reason for a journey to the West Coast - the wonderful beaches!

While traveling from Cape Town along R27 you have many opportunities to enjoy some lovely beaches. From Melkbosstrand panoramic views towards Cape Town and the Table Mountain can be enjoyed.
