Many South Africans like to spend their holidays in Hermanus, an attractive seaside resort. Hermanus offers superb beaches, natural beauty and on top the best opportunities for whale watching from June to October. Well known is also a 7 km long trail along the coastline and some beautiful beaches.

Just out of town the Rotary Way leads you on top of a mountain plateau. Here you can enjoy magnificent views along the coast and a huge variety of fynbos, the typical Cape flora. If you look inland from the plateau you'll see some of the finest wine estates (Hamilton Russell) in South Africa. Due to the cooler winds from the sea the Hermanus winelands are known for their high quality products.

Gans Bay at the end of the Walker Bay is also a nice spot from where to explore this region.
Dving with Great White Sharks/Gansbaai, Gans Bay
From 1 March to 31 October (every year), you can take the opportunity to be face to face with the Great White Shark. For sure sure an unforgettable experience.

Whales can usually be spotted easily along the shores of Walker Bay. Even from the coast these marine mammals can be seen. If you like to get closer you can also join a cruise. In Hout Bay and along the False Bay whales can also be spotted during the season (June to October).
